Course Description

Clearing a structure is among the most challenging and high-risk assignments an officer can encounter. The Building Search Techniques course is designed to give law enforcement professionals the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to conduct systematic searches while maintaining maximum safety for themselves, their partners, and the community.

This focused training explores proven methods for approaching and entering buildings, controlling hallways and intersections, and managing doorways, stairwells, and confined spaces. Participants learn how to work in teams, maintain clear communication, and make rapid, sound decisions when confronted with unknown threats or evolving circumstances. Instruction emphasizes tactical movement, weapon readiness, and the use of cover and concealment to reduce exposure and maintain a tactical advantage.

Hands-on scenarios place officers in realistic environments where they can apply these strategies under instructor guidance. Through dynamic drills, participants practice deliberate room clearing, controlling angles, and coordinating movements to neutralize potential hazards. Each exercise reinforces critical thinking, situational awareness, and disciplined execution under pressure—the skills that make the difference in real-world operations.

Whether you serve in patrol, investigations, or a specialized unit, this course delivers practical, immediately applicable techniques that elevate officer safety and operational effectiveness. By the end of training, participants leave with a stronger tactical foundation and the confidence to conduct building searches with precision and control, ready to meet the demands of modern law enforcement.
