Course Description

The Patrol Rifle Operator course is a comprehensive 24-hour training program designed to certify law enforcement officers in the safe, effective, and operational use of the patrol rifle. This course provides officers with the knowledge, technical skills, and practical experience necessary to deploy a patrol rifle confidently and responsibly in real-world law enforcement environments.

The course begins with classroom instruction focused on rifle fundamentals, safety considerations, and operational characteristics of the patrol rifle platform. Officers receive instruction on weapon handling, nomenclature, ammunition considerations, zeroing principles, and basic maintenance to ensure a thorough understanding of the system. Emphasis is placed on safe operation and consistent weapon manipulation as the foundation for effective performance.

Training then transitions to extensive live-fire and skill-development exercises. Officers develop proficiency in marksmanship fundamentals, including stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, and recoil management. As skills progress, training incorporates positional shooting, target transitions, movement, use of cover, and reload procedures. These exercises are designed to build confidence and efficiency while reinforcing accuracy and weapon control under increasingly dynamic conditions.

Officers learn to apply rifle capabilities appropriately during common law enforcement scenarios, including perimeter operations, high-risk searches, and active threat responses. Instructors provide continuous feedback and coaching to ensure proper technique and safe application of skills.

Successful completion of the Patrol Rifle Operator course results in patrol rifle certification. This course is ideal for patrol officers seeking to expand their operational capabilities and agencies looking to ensure officers are properly trained to deploy patrol rifles safely, accurately, and effectively.
